A intoxicação por paraquat é uma situação gravíssima com que infelizmente já quase
todos os médicos depararam. Ao péssimo prognóstico, com mortalidade de quase 100%
para ingestão superior a 40/45 mg/Kg1, associa-se a inexistência de protocolos
terapêuticos fiáveis, optando-se em regra pelas medidas gerais e hemoperfusão o mais
precoce possível. O objectivo deste trabalho é tentar apurar na literatura mundial quais
as opções terapêuticas testadas (dexametasona, metilprednisolona, ciclofosfamida,
furosemido, N-acetilcisteína, desferroxamina, vitaminas e plasmaférese, entre outros) e
respectiva eficácia.
