Síndrome RS3PE– Uma forma rara de reumatismo aos 94 anos

Os autores descrevem um caso clínico típico da síndrome RS3PE
(Remitting Seronegative Symmetrical Synovitis with Pitting Oedema) numa idosa de 94 anos, residente em Lar de terceira idade.
A idade avançada da paciente, as suas limitações motoras e as
alterações do comportamento dificultaram a confirmação deste
caso e a prossecução da marcha diagnóstica. A síndrome RS3PE
foi descrito pela primeira vez em 1985 por McCarthy DJ1 como
uma nova entidade clínica, afectando sobretudo os idosos do sexo
masculino, com um quadro súbito de poliartrite, edema em godet
do dorso das mãos ou dos pés, factores reumatóides negativos,
ausência de erosões ósseas e com boa resposta a doses baixas
de corticóides. A etiologia maligna foi excluída nesta paciente.
