A importância crescente que o síndrome de Sweet tem despertado nos últimos anos relaciona-se com o facto desta entidade nosológica, com acentuado componente dermatológico, contribuir para o diagnóstico precoce de outras patologias, nomeadamente as do foro hemato-oncológico. Pretendeu-se com esta revzsao destacar a importância das manifestações clínicas, especialmente as de evolução e carácter atípico, cuja identificação é tanto mais necessdria, quanto se sabe que a patologia maligna lhe está associada em cerca de 15 a 20% dos casos.
