Sweet's syndrome - A clinico-pathologic review of 10 years in the Hospital Distrital de Santarém (1987-1997)

ln the last years, the Sweet's syndrome has become a well-defined multi-systemic entity, described by many authors. The early recognition of this syndrome is very important to improve our diagnostic and therapeutic abilities, particularly in the field of oncology. Emphasis is given to the identification of the syndrome, which can alert the physician to the possibility, of underlying neoplastic disease or acute leukaemia. The authors review the pathogenesis, clinicai and histopathological features, as well as the course, prognosis and therapy of the Sweet's syndrome.
ln approximately fifteen percent of ali reported cases internal malignancy was found.
