Aminophylline Intoxication: A fatal case
Keywords:
aminofhilline, intoxication, fatal caseAbstract
Aminophilline is a substance widely used in respiratory diseases.
Sometimes is used in a permanent and indiscriminate form, without the attention due to the potential toxic effect of this drug.
Severe theophylline toxicity is associated with significant
morbidity and mortality, due primarily to sustained or recurrent
seizures, cardiovascular collapse and cardiac arrhythmias. In
reference to a fatal clinical report, the authors make a revision
of the literature about the different properties of aminophilline
and their respective secondary effects. There are few cases published about this
subject, particulary with such a high aminophilline plasmatic level.
