Abstract

The anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome is a rare, but potentially fatal, idiosyncratic reaction. It was first described as a
reaction to aromatic anticonvulsivants, to which a cross-reaction
is frequent. However, recently cases of hypersensitivity syndrome
to non-aromatic anticonvulsivants have been described.
The authors present a clinical case of hypersensitivity syndrome
to three anticonvulsants of different pharmacological classes: carbamazepine, valproic acid and gabapentin; and make a summary
revision of the literature.
