Abstract

The authors present the case of an 86-year-old woman, admitted
with dry cough and right chest pain. On physical examination a
painful mass of the anterior and inferior chest wall was palpated.
Chest CT showed a 7.5cm soft tissue mass of the inferior border
of the right costal arch with cortical disruption and an important
periostial reaction, suggestive of malignancy. The tumour was
excised and the histopathologic exam revealed a costal haemangioma. In this article we review this rare entity that should be
considered in the differential diagnosis of chest wall tumours.
