Recurrent parotiditis, the first manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus

The clinical case report of a 45-year-old women is
presented. The patient had recurrent enlargement
of the parotid glands for four years. She was admitted
with fever, night sweats and left pleuritic pain. She
had a left-sided pleural effusion and polyarthritis
involving wrists, proximal interphalangeals, knees
and tibiotarsals. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus was
the final diagnosis following investigation.
