Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multi-system, chronic, progressive disease, of unknown aetiology. It has a high associated morbidity.
Diagnosis is based on clinical and laboratory criteria
and can be difficult in the early phases, in oligo-symptomatic disease and when therapeutic
interventions influence the clinical and analytic manifestations of the disease.
Regarding patients followed in the Vila Nova de
Gaia Hospital Centre (C.H.V.N.G.), the authors made
a retrospective analysis of clinic processes of
patients with the diagnosis of SLE, with the aim of
determining the prevalence of the principal clinical
and laboratorial features in our population, according to the current A.C.R. criteria.
