Abstract

In rheumatoid arthritis joint involvement is so­metimes accompanied by extra-articular featu­res. These manifestations are exemplified by im­mune complex mediated vasculitis ( rheumatoid vasculitis). Several different patterns may appear, none of them specific. Clinical manifestations are most frequently systemic, dermatological and neurologica. Treatment is based on steroids, immune suppression, and sometimes, plasmaphe­resis. Prognosis is determined by the disease rheumatoid arthritis, and not by the coexisten­ ce of rhematoid vasculitis. Nevertheless, rheu­matoid vasculitis is associated with a more aggressive form of rheumatoid arthritis.
