Diabetic ketoacidosis - Current aspects of evolution and treatment

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a clinical entity associated with a high morbidity and mortality. The clinical and therapeutic approach to this problem has been modified throughout the years according to the various different schools of thought. High dose versus low dose insulin, vigorous or conservative rehydration, bicarbonate, potassium and phosphorus replacement have all been advocated. The authors try to focus on the re cent aspects concerning clinical diagnosis and treatment of this entity.
