Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - General aspects and role in the treatment of cancer pain

The nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are very commonly used, for its well-known anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic activities. They can cause multipie side effects that, although rare in single doses, increase with multiple doses specially in the elderly. They interact with drugs that bind strongly to plasma proteins. NSAIDs are, such as paracetamol, first line agents for the treatment of mild to moderate cancer pain but can be used in other stages of the disease.
