Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare, aggressive malignancy originated in the peritoneum lining mesothelial cells. It is
characterized by a late onset related to the nonspecific nature
of the symptoms, leading to a late diagnosis and therefore therapeutic inefficacy. The authors describe the case of a malignant
peritoneal mesothelioma diagnosed during the investigation of an ascites. Focusing on the clinic case the authors intend to
make a brief review of the literature regarding this theme.
