Cuidados Paliativos nas Insuficiências de Órgão Avançadas

O objetivo dos cuidados paliativos é intervir ativamente no sofrimento. Nas patologias com desfecho menos previsível
como as insuficiências de órgão, esta intervenção nem sempre é executada. Neste sentido, saber identificar os doentes a carecer destes cuidados é primordial. Nesta revisão reúnem- se os principais sintomas segundo a patologia de base assim como as possibilidades terapêuticas e de atuação.
Dada a sobreposição de certos sintomas em doentes em fase avançada, como a dor, dispneia e diarreia, discute-se também a utilidade e a indicação de recorrer à classe farmacológica dos opioides que, evitando a polimedicação, cobre todas estas vertentes. Abordam-se também as particularidades da utilização de opioides nos doentes com insuficiências de órgão.
