Burkitt´s Lymphoma is a high-grade B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma uncommon in adults. It includes three main types: the sporadic form, the endemic form and an immunodeficiency related one.
It was the first tumor to be proven as associated with a virus (Epstein-Barr) and a chromosomal translocation, with well-known
consequences as deregulation of the oncogene, c-myc.
A case of a 23-year-old black male, from São Tomé e Principe,
admitted to hospital due to abdominal pain, mass in the right flank,
increased abdominal volume and periods of diarrhea alternating
with constipation is described.
After running some tests, he was diagnosed with Stage III Burkitt´s
lymphoma and we started Hyper-CVAD regimen in 8 cycles
