Abstract

The A.A. report two cases of thorotrast related hepatic malignancies, two cholangiocarcinomas, observed in an Internal Medicine ward at a hospital in Lisbon. A comment is made about
the effects of ionizing radiation on the human body, taking special attention to those caused
by thorotrast. We comment on the long period of time between the thorotrast injection and the
diagnosis of the tumour, as well as the fact that
these are probably the last cases of thorotrast related tumours.
