Keywords:
thyroid, thyroid hormones, oral contraceptiveAbstract
Thyroid function was assessed in 63 fertile women taking oral contraceptives, through RIA and IRMA evaluation of serum total T3 and T4, free T3 and T4, rT3, TSH, TG, TBG and anti-thyroid antibodies, as well as PB127I. Morphofunctional studies were perfomed according to standart scintigraphic techniques the control group included 24 healthy women, not medicated with oral contraceptives.
Results show significant influences of ACOH on serum T3, T4, T3L, T4L, TG, TBG and PB127I, which are apparently independent of patient's age, ACOH therapy duration or quality.
