Abstract

The author describes in a more detailed way
the nutritional approach to dyslipidaemias
and arterial hypertension. Concerning the fi rst
issue, items such as the role of fatty acids, the
relationship between food and plasma cholesterol, the role of vegetables, fruits and starch
and the indications for vitamin supplementation
are reported. Regarding the second issue, items such as weight reduction, salt, potassium,
calcium and magnesium supplementation, macronutrients, caffeine, alcohol and the role of
physical activity are stated.
