Resumo

Os autores abordam sumariamente a cronologia da doença aterosclerótica para depois reverem, tentando integrá-las na evolução da placa de ateroma, as várias teorias da aterogénese. Nesta primeira parte são referenciadas as teorias da resposta à retenção, lipídica, monoclonal, da encrustação, da resposta à lesão e oxidativa.
