Resumo

Os autores continuam a discutir algumas das teorias da aterogénese, abordando, nesta segunda parte, a evidência científica que fundamenta a teoria imunológica, o papel do cálcio neste processo, a importância da patologia infecciosa, a teoria da fadiga, defendida por Stehbens, e a determinância da teoria hemodinâmica. Por fim, conclui-se pela interdependência de todas as teorias e hipóteses que, em conjunto e com maior ou menor peso relativo, desenbocam na doença aterosclerótica, cuja manifestação clínica precoce todos receamos.
