Abstract

Acute adrenal insufficiency is a rare disorder associated
with high morbidity and mortality if allowed to progress
unrecognised. A constellation of non-specific symptoms including weakness, easy fatigue, nausea, anorexia, and weight
loss, are typical features of adrenal insufficiency. The index
of suspicion should be particularly high if the patient has
hyperpigmentation, hyponatremia and/or hyperkalemia.
The authors report a case of Addison‘s disease in a 21-
year-old woman who presented with constitutional symptoms. Diagnosis of Addison‘s disease was considered and
confirmed by the appropriate hormonal investigations
