Abstract

Weight loss and food behavioural problems are frequently observed among elderly people. This may lead to the development of disease processes and impair quality of life. The deterioration of nutritional status is related to mood, stress, psychological problems and reduced economic circumstances. The aim of this article is to present the author's opinion, concerning the best type of nutrition that the geriatric population should practise, in order to prevent weight loss and evolution of disease processes.
