Alimentação enteral no idoso

A má nutrição é frequente no idoso e passa muitas vezes despercebida com consequências deletérias traduzidas por um aumento da morbitidade e mortalidade neste grupo etário. Os autores fazem a revisão do suporte nutricional por via enteral no idoso, salientando as razões para o recurso a esta técnica de alimentação artificial, as suas indicações e contra-indicações, a quantificação das necessidades dos diversos nutrientes, os aspectos respeitantes à sua administração e as complicações deste método. Seguidamente, apresentam um estudo realizado com o objectivo de avaliar os resultados da presta ção de suporte nutricional por via enteral a do entes idosos internados.
