The authors present a clinical case report of a 29 years old
male patient, previously healthy, admitted in our Hospital with
lymphadenopathy in the axillary, portocaval and celiac region and
papulonodular red/purple cutaneous lesions all over his body. DNA
polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of Bartonella spp in cutaneous
lesions biopsy and in the blood was positive. This was consistent
with the diagnosis of bacillary angiomatosis a rare entity that if
left without treatment may result in death.
