Urinary incontinence secondary to carvedilol
Keywords:
beta-blocker, carvedilol, urinary incontinenceAbstract
We present a clinical case-report of a 59-years old woman, with essential hypertension, who
had stress urinary incontinence after taking
carvedilol. This beta-adrenergic antagonist, often used in clinical practice, can cause this secondary effect because of its antagonist action on alpha1-receptors of the urinary tract, which causes relaxation of the urethral sphincter.
