Keywords:
Wegener granulomatosis, dyspnea, lung-kidney syndromeAbstract
Wegener’s granulomatosis is a systemic vasculitis
of the small and median vessels, with particular
involvement of the upper and lower respiratory tracts
and the kidney. This distinct clinico-pathologic entity
is included in the differential diagnosis of lung-kidney syndrome.
The authors present the clinical case of a 59 year old woman, admitted to the Polyvalent Intensive Care
Unit of Fernando da Fonseca Hospital, with haemoptysis and respiratory and renal insufficiency.
The aetiologic investigation is described and a
diagnosis of Wegener’s granulomatosis was made.
The authors discuss relevant aspects of the
diagnosis, therapeutics and follow-up of patients with this disease.
