Resumo

O complexo metabolismo do ferro à luz das recentes descobertas
dos mecanismos de regulação da sua absorção e distribuição
apresenta relação estreita com os mecanismos fisiopatológicos
da doença hepática alcoólica. Pretende-se fazer uma revisão
teórica dos mais recentes conceitos clínicos e moleculares, bem
como a relação entre o consumo de álcool com outras causas
conhecidas de sobrecarga de ferro.
