Abstract

The authors describe the case of a 64-year-old patient who presented to the Casualty Department with a two-month history of
an irritating cough, malaise and unspecified weight loss. She had
a history of Rheumatoid Arthritis in remission for several years.
Her chest radiograph presented an oval nodule at the left hilum.
The diagnosis was reached after a second bronchofi broscopy,
when the histological exam of the biopsy revealed a Primary Pulmonary Lymphoma.
Primary Pulmonary Lymphomas are a rare entity. Their most
frequent form of presentation is the marginal zone extra-nodal
non-Hodgkin B Lymphoma arising from Bronchial Mucosa Associated Lymphoid Tissue (BALT) or Primary Pulmonary MALT
(Mucosa Associated Lymphoid Tissue) Lymphoma.
